There are a lot of books available on Anger Management but the scope of this work by Warren Henderson covers much more than the management of anger. A quick glance through the chapter headings will reveal the depth and the breadth of the subject covered by this remarkable author.
The book is well written and well researched. And, as you will discover, it is very firmly grounded in the Word of God. Perhaps you are like me, and see yourself as not having an “anger problem”. However, as one works through the book, it becomes obvious that we all have a problem with anger to some degree. I found it encouraging to be reminded that God Himself has expressed anger on many occasions and that for us, people made in the image of God, we also received the emotion of anger.
The Bible has a great deal to say about its nature, its causes, its purpose, its control and management. It was quite a challenge to learn that we cannot pray and be angry at the same time! We will either refrain from praying, or we will pray and we will find the anger will be replaced by calm. Henderson also gives some very practical techniques which we can use when we are aware of an anger build-up.
